Leaders,

I’m a little late on getting this meeting recap to you! Please forgive me.

Our last meeting, on August 16 was a great start of our second year. Here’s a quick recap:

  • We began, as always, with a time of connection and prayer. This is always a powerful time of connection and encouragement and a moment we get to know the person sitting next to us a little better.
  • We shared some important CLN announcements. Please note these on your calendar:
    • Meetings will change to the 4th Thursday of the month beginning in September.
    • CLN lunch gatherings on October 18 and May 16, 2019 at 11:30am at Adventist Health Hospital Conference Center. Mark your calendars!
    • Dinner with spouses on February 13th — more information and registration to come.
  • Assistant Sheriff Robert Thayer was our featured presenter. What an encouragement to have a man of deep faith leading in this influential position. He began by reminding us of the moment when Elisha encouraged his servant in 2 Kings that “those with us are greater than those who are with them.” Robert shared about the positive changes in the jail and the incredible blessing of a state grant to help fund a new HQ for the department. He then took questions. If you missed it, you missed a treat!
  • We ended with our roundtable sharing time — flyers attached include Community Bible Study, Walk for Life, GriefShare, Habitat for Humanity, and From the Pulpit event.

Blessings,

The CLN Team

P.S. Pastors, please forgive this postscript. I’d like to give you a special invitation to an event called From the Pulpit, that is being sponsored by our local County Behavior Health Department. We all know that suicide is a MAJOR issue in our nation and community. Some of our own homes have been touched by this. Can you please join me at this event that will be held at Koinonia Church’s campus? Dinner is provided and there is no cost to us. Pastor Roger Watson will be a part of the panel and you will also get an opportunity to meet some of the behavioral health officials from the county. These are important connections and an important conversation. We NEED to be at the table to show that we care and that we cannot do this alone. I want to hear what you are doing in your church so I can learn from you.

September 14 5:30pm – From the Pulpit: Mental Health and the Church — Register here
