Leaders,

Thank you to all who joined us at our gathering yesterday! It seems that our lunch hour gatherings work for more people and we had over twenty in attendance today including at least 8 churches and 6 ministry organizations. If you weren’t able to make it, we hope you can join us next month. Here is a recap of what happened today along with connection opportunities.

Current CLN Projects Update

  • Community Marriage Policy. We are working towards a community marriage statement that can be signed and supported by as many Kings County pastors and ministry leaders as possible in an effort to fight for marriages in a greater way. We feel we are getting close to finalizing our statement. Would you sign it in its current form? If not, please let us know why.

  • Human Trafficking Awareness Event. In January, CLN will be co-sponsoring the annual human trafficking event that has been sponsored by Kings Coalition for Wellness & Awareness for the last several years. We are excited to announce that we will be hosted by Sierra Pacific High School and our speaker will be Melissa Yao, Executive Director of the National Trafficking Sheltered Alliance. There will be development opportunities for ministry leaders as well as the general public. More to come!

  • Kids of the King. We are working with Lester Moon of Hands in the Community with the goal of building relationships with local school superintendents and administrations to create a pathway for churches to sponsor after school programs on school campuses. This is a powerful way for us to love on our community and create a win-win for churches, families, and schools. Would your church be willing to take the lead on a school campus? Time and participation commitment will require 2-3 committed volunteers for a once a week program for one hour immediately after school.

This Month’s Presentation: CASA Kings County

This month we heard from Nathan Lee who is the Executive Director of CASA Kings County. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) works to train and match volunteers with children in the foster care system who are in need of a court appointed advocate. Nathan’s presentation of the need for the children caught in the system to have a voice speaking for them was incredibly powerful. The advocate provides both stability in the ever changing world of the foster child and critical communication between all the entities attempting to provide service to them (health care, social workers, schools, court system, attorneys, etc.). CASA is an incredible organization and we are fortunate to have Nathan leading the way. Please click here for upcoming information sessions for more information.  Email Nathan here.

Round Table

As most of you know, we end our time together with a time of sharing around the table to hear from each organization what is going on and what is coming up. Here are some excerpts. Business cards and flyers shared can be reviewed here.

  • The annual Walk for Life event is October 5th! Register at CrossroadsCPC.com . Flyer is here.

  • Every Woman women’s conference is coming Nov 1-2. Info and registration here.

  • The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Kick-off is coming October 25th and will feature Liz Harrison of ABC News Fresno.

  • Kings Gospel Mission is looking for people willing to lead devotions for the men (10-15 minutes). This could be once a month or once a week depending on your desire and availability. Contact Dennis Rietema for more info. His card is also in the packet.

  • The 2nd Annual Kings Worship Night is coming on October 11th at Hanford Civic Park. This is a wonderful time of worship designed for the community.

  • The men’s event Building a Legacy is coming live to Fresno on November 2 featuring speakers Tony Evans and Samuel Rodriguez. Info and tickets here.

On behalf of the CLN team, we want to thank you for your heart and vision for Kings County. We are convinced that God is not finished with our community and that He will do even greater things through us as we gather together in unity in Christ. Every Christian leader in this community is IMPORTANT and we would love to have EVERY voice be a part of our group.

Please join us for our next meeting on October 24th at 11:30am at First Christian Church in Hanford. Invite someone. And if you can’t make it, send someone.

Blessings!
Andrew Cromwell for The CLN Team
