CLN Leaders,

On Tuesday we held our official monthly gathering because we felt strongly that very few of you would be in attendance if we met on our normal 4th Thursday which fell on Thanksgiving. 🙂 As always, it was wonderful to connect with all those in attendance and we missed everyone who wasn’t able to make it.

Let me give you a quick recap and highlight some important announcements:

  • December CLN Schedule
    • Touchbase Meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 9am. Join us for our only official CLN meeting in December. Save the link
    • CLN Community Prayer Gathering on Dec. 17 at 6:30pm. Please invite your church to be a part of this live stream event. It is so powerful when our churches pray together! Link will be on the front-page of CLNKings.com
    • December Monthly Meeting CANCELLED
  • Recap
    • We were joined by our newest community pastor, Tim Hoins, the new pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Hanford. Welcome Tim!
    • Mark Curts shared that he is working with the Hanford City Council to pass a Christian Heritage declaration, hopefully in February of next year. This will be a wonderful opportunity for CLN to support.
    • Terri Boggess, Director of Infection Prevention at Adventist Health Central Valley Region was our official presentation. Terri gave us a powerful snapshot of the current conditions at the hospital. Here are some key points from her talk:
      • Right now Adventist Health hospital has some very sick patients coming in and they are more sick and are from a wider demographic than the last spike in COVID over the summer.
      • The number of COVID patients has more than doubled in the last two weeks, going from 18 to 42 and there is no sign of slowing.
      • The statistics continue to show that for every 100 people that get COVID: 80% will weather it well, 20% will get sick enough to go into the hospital. Out of the 20%, 2% will die.
      • Good infection prevention practices are the best thing to do to help. Wash your hands, clean surfaces, wear a mask, and stay socially distanced. And especially, stay home if you are sick! All of these things slow down the spread of the virus.
  • CLN is working with the hospital to get notes of encouragement in to the healthcare workers that are going to be exhausted over the next few months. More to come on how you can involve your church.

Let me take a moment to express my thanks to each of you for your involvement in CLN. Even if you are not able to attend all the meetings, your willingness to engage indicates a desire for unity and collaboration for the purposes of the Kingdom of God. If there ever was a time when the unity of the church stands in stark contrast to the divisions that are painfully present in our culture, it is certainly right now. Thank you for having that vision for a church united under the banner of Jesus Christ! May He strengthen each one of you as we weather this storm and see His goodness lavished upon us.

In Him,

Andrew Cromwell for the
CLN Team (Orris Whitley, Erika Valenzuela, Lambert Sikkemma, and Julie LeFIls)
