Leaders,
Our May CLN meeting is in the books! Thank you to all who attended, and to all who weren’t able to make it, we missed you!
We continue to add to our group with new faces each time. This is wonderful and essential to the purpose of our gathering — we want to be a Christian leadership community (both of churches and other Christian ministries and non-profits) united for the purpose of encouraging one another and impacting our community. Thank you for continuing to invite more people to the table!
This month’s featured presentation came from Ahmad Bahrami from Behavioral Health. Ahmad is a program manager at BH and he spoke to us about the intersection between mental health services and the faith community. There is a new open door to conversation between Behavioral a Health and the faith community because the new model recognizes that if the health of the individual involves not only the physical and mental but also the spiritual. Further, it is the individual the should drive the conversation pertaining to the spiritual, not the mental health service provider.
Ahmad also shared about the training programs that are available through the county including Mental Health First Aid, Suicide Prevention, and Veteran’s Needs. If you would be interested in attending one of these trainings, which provides practical tools that will help you as you serve your people, please simply reply to this email with one training that you would most like to attend from the following list: (1) Mental Health First Aid, (2) Youth Mental Health First Aid, (3) Assist (suicide prevention), or (4) Another Kind of Valor (Veteran’s).
If you would like to contact Ahmad with questions about accessing mental health services in our county, the services behavioral health offers, or for more information on topics like these, you can reach him at his office at 559-852-2437 or Ahmadreza.Bahrami@Co.Kings.Ca.Us
Our next CLN gathering will be on our normal 3rd Thursday, on June 21 at 7:30am in the Chapel behind the AH Community Care Building located at 1025 N Douty Street in Hanford. Please note: we will go dark in July and won’t meet again until August.
Blessings,
The CLN Team
P.S. We launched CLN last September and as we approach the completion of our first year, the coordinator team would LOVE to hear your feedback and suggestions. If you would take the time to let us know what is working, what you don’t care for, and what you’d like to see in our second year, we would be extremely grateful!
